IUI Treatment
Thoughtful Treatment.
The Right Approach Matters.
Fertility treatment doesn't always have to begin with the most advanced option. For some patients, intrauterine insemination (IUI) can offer a simpler, less invasive approach to helping sperm and egg come together.

At Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists, the decision to pursue IUI is based on your fertility evaluation, diagnosis, age, and individual circumstances—with careful consideration of whether it offers a meaningful opportunity for success.
Sometimes Simpler Is the Best Place to Begin.
IUI is a less complex treatment than IVF and does not involve egg retrieval or fertilization in a laboratory. For patients whose fertility circumstances make IUI appropriate, it may provide an opportunity to conceive with less intervention before considering more advanced treatment.
Understanding IUI
What Is Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)?
IUI is a minimally invasive fertility treatment in which a specially prepared sperm sample is placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation, helping more sperm reach the egg.

IUI may be considered for certain fertility circumstances, including unexplained infertility, some ovulation disorders, mild male-factor infertility, or the use of donor sperm. It may be performed during a natural cycle or combined with medication to stimulate ovulation, depending on your treatment plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions About IUI
IUI may be appropriate for unexplained infertility, certain ovulation disorders, mild male-factor infertility, or when using donor sperm. Age, reproductive history, sperm quality, and whether the fallopian tubes are open also help determine whether IUI is appropriate. We offer IUI with donor sperm at our Glenview clinic.
Most patients experience little or no significant discomfort. Mild cramping or light spotting may occur, and most patients return to normal activities afterward.
There isn't one number that's right for everyone. Age, diagnosis, treatment response, and previous results help determine whether to continue IUI or consider another approach.
With IUI, prepared sperm is placed into the uterus so fertilization can occur inside the body. With IVF, eggs are retrieved and fertilized in a laboratory before an embryo is transferred to the uterus.
